The Thoroughbred Ed in Schools Programs, run by Racing Victoria Limited comprises of two fantastic school based programs that are free to schools.

One for Primary schools and one for Secondary Schools.

Available to Primary Schools, is the Subzero Goes to School Program and we visit Secondary Schools with the Thoroughbred Ed Career Program.

Subzero Goes to School is a unique and VELS aligned program, which offers school children the chance to meet, smell and touch a real Melbourne Cup Champion. ‘Subbie’, the much loved winner of the 1992 Melbourne Cup can even answer questions!

Available to Secondary Schools is the career focused Thoroughbred Ed Career Talks, where a speaker from the Thoroughbred Racing Industry, an Education Officer from Racing Victoria and Subzero, visit your school to discuss the wide ranging career possibilities available in the Thoroughbred and Breeding Industry. Speakers may be local trainers, jockeys, breeders, farriers, equine vets, equine nurses to name just a few, and clear further education courses and pathways will be clearly outlined to students.
The Thoroughbred Racing and Breeding Industry is one of the top 10 employers in Australia with wide ranging employment opportunities available in all regional areas.
