Nominations for the 2009 BMW Caulfield Cup, Tatts Cox Plate and Emirates Melbourne Cup included horses from ten countries along with New Zealand.
Overall, 43 international horses have been entered for the Spring Racing Carnival's ‘big three'. There are 18 Caulfield Cup nominations, 11 in the Cox Plate and 39 in the Melbourne Cup.
The weights and handicaps for the spring feature races were released on Wednesday 2 September.
Tatts Cox Plate Final Field
The Spring Racing Carnival could feature international runners in as many as five different group events with the news that middle-distance horse Bankable will run in the group 1 Mackinnon Stakes on the opening day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Bankable and his stablemate, Melbourne Cup contender Mourilyan, will soon enter quarantine at Newmarket in England for the trip to Melbourne. The pair will join nine other likely international contenders.
