The brilliant win by Shocking in the Emirates Melbourne Cup, So You Think’s dashing Tatts Cox Plate win and his flying effort for second in the Emirates Stakes, along with Monaco Consul’s outstanding win in the AAMI Victoria Derby were some of the standout performances from the new stars during the Spring.
The win of Viewed in the BMW Caulfield Cup and his unlucky seventh in the Emirates Melbourne Cup, confirmed the Bart Cummings-trained 6yo is still at the top of the stayers’ tree in Australia, collecting close to $1.75 million during the Carnival.
Starspangledbanner was a spectacular all-the-way winner in The Age Caulfield Guineas prompting connections to declare him the best 3yo in Australia and All American finally delivered on the great promise he has shown for so long in the Emirates Stakes.
All Silent now looks capable of winning anywhere in the world at distances up to 1400 metres following his breathtaking last-to-first win in the Patinack Farm Classic. His trainer Grahame Begg is likely to test that over the coming twelve months with an international campaign well and truly in the plans including Hong Kong, perhaps Dubai and Royal Ascot.
